People started demolishing green pigs and their castles using angry birds on December 2009. And it is the most downloaded mobile application in 2011. Rovio is the firm behind this crazy game angry birds. they were into the gaming business since 2003 and has made 50+ games before Angry Birds. In an interview published in techmarketing(27 Dec 2011) the ceo Peter Vesterbacka explained the team behind this project. In his words "The team that created Angry Birds was 12 people. The game was built around the characters that Jaakko Iisalo, our game designer, came up with. The original idea was very different, but everybody loved the birds, so it was decided to build a game around the birds. Over the next 8 months Angry Birds became the game we know today. Hit the appstore Dec 2009, slow start, number one in Finland, then Sweden, number one in UK in April and then things really took off. Have been number one since in both UK and US. Number one in 77 countries. Number one longer than anybody else. 50M+ downloads across platforms.
In Angry Birds, players control a flock of multi-colored birds that are attempting to retrieve eggsthat have been taken by a group of hungry green pigs.[9] On each level, the pigs are sheltered by structures made of various materials such as wood, ice[10] and stone, and the objective of the game is to eliminate all the pigs in the level. Using a slingshot, players launch the birds with the intent of either hitting the pigs directly or damaging the structures, causing them to collapse and eliminate the pigs.[11] In various stages of the game, additional objects such as explosive crates and rocks are found in the structures, and may be used in conjunction with the birds to destroy hard-to-reach pigs.
